Artist Statement
I am a self-taught furniture artist who respects classical woodworking techniques, yet also tries to push the envelope when it comes to innovative ways of infusing superior comfort and superior function into my designs.
I work with responsibly sourced Appalachian hardwoods: known for their strength and beauty worldwide. My furniture is enhanced with dyes, glazes, glass, & metal adornments.
Classical woodworking techniques that I incorporate include: steam bending, mortise & tenon, dovetails, doweling, turning, & wood burning.
Modern techniques utilized include: pigmented epoxies & textured planning. I never use CNC machines, and all of my pieces are handmade.
I’m most know for my dining table and chair sets. Namely because my signature dining chair design is built to last, and most importantly - comfortable. Don’t take my word for it, have a seat and feel the lumbar support for yourself.
I thrive on collaborating with customers at art and craft festivals. This venue allows me to take one of my “floor model” designs, and customize it to suit the needs of each individual patron.
Whether customers order one of my designs “as is” or change everything about it down to wood type and color: they are getting a piece that is made for them.
